Hair can play quite a role in a wrestler's appearance, both having the ability to enhance or reduce the quality of one's look. To some, their hair is a prize. That possessiveness has transferred to the squared circle primarily for humiliation in a rivalry.

Matches pitting a wrestler's hair against another's have occurred worldwide for decades, not just involving men. Sometimes both wrestlers' hair is the stakes whereas other times a title was put on the line against the threat of baldness. In WWE, more than a dozen matches have happened with some luscious locks on the line.

12 "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis

After building a legacy as one of the greatest talkers and show hosts the company had to offer, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper returned to WWE in the summer of 1986 after a brief hiatus, sickened that his Piper's Pit segment had been replaced by The Flower Shop hosted by "Adorable" Adrian Adonis. This started a feud between the two lasting months, culminating at the following year's WrestleMania.

Piper and Adonis fought at the event in what was not only billed as Piper's "last match," but the two agreed to a Hair vs. Hair match. After being revived by Brutus Beefcake following a sleeper hold, Roddy defeated Adonis by submission with his own sleeper, resulting in Beefcake cutting Adrian's hair with clippers.

11 Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake Vs. "Outlaw" Ron Bass

Filmed a month prior, the 19th edition of Saturday Night's Main Event aired on January 7, 1989, and opened with a Hair vs. Hair match between Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and "Outlaw" Ron Bass; Beefcake received his nickname following his involvement at WrestleMania 3 with Piper and Adonis.

In the summer of 1988, Bass attacked Beefcake with a metal spur, subsequently removing Brutus from his Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam. Brutus won the match at SNME against Bass following a sleeper hold and would then let his shears do the work from there.

10 X-Pac Vs. Jeff Jarrett

Beloved and legendary ring announcer Howard Finkel got involved in the feud between X-Pac and Jeff Jarrett in the summer of 1998 with Jarrett and his henchmen Southern Justice shaving what was left of "The Fink's" hair. Jarrett met X-Pac at SummerSlam that year in a Hair vs. Hair match.

Despite Southern Justice being banned from ringside for the match, their attempt to interfere anyway was costly for Jarrett with X-Pac hitting Jeff with a guitar to get the win. The post-match backfired as the clippers kept clogging up; Jarrett would escape with some of his long hair still intact but definitely needing a cut to even it out.

9 Edge Vs. Kurt Angle

In early 2002 Edge found himself in a rivalry with Booker T over a storyline Japanese shampoo commercial that, of course, revolved around the hair follicles of the two combatants. Edge won the battle with Booker and would then get himself in a revived rivalry with Kurt Angle. The two fought at Backlash with Angle winning, but the rematch had larger stakes.

Edge and Angle were set for battle at Judgment Day with both men's hair on the line. The balding Angle lost the match after a roll-up pin and would have to be chased down and put to "sleep" before Edge can get Kurt in the barber's chair to give the Olympic gold medalist a new hairless look.

8 Chris Jericho Vs. Kevin Nash

In a mini-feud part of a larger picture, "Y2J" Chris Jericho's mouth got himself into a little trouble in the summer of 2003 with Kevin Nash. Although both were part of the upcoming World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match at SummerSlam, the two had their own score to settle.

Jericho and Nash would face off on the August 18th episode of Raw in a Hair vs. Hair match that was won by Jericho despite Nash being the favorite; Jericho won with a low-blow and a punch with brass knuckles. Although he said he was going to shave Nash bald, Jericho only cut off larger clumps of hair but enough to leave "Big Sexy" looking foolish.

7 Victoria Vs. Molly Holly

Revealing in interviews years after the match, Molly Holly told WWE officials she was willing to sacrifice her hair if it meant the women could have a match at WrestleMania XX in 2004. Her offer was accepted and a story was made for her and the Women's Champion Victoria.

On camera, Molly put her hair on the line for a shot at the Women's Championship at WrestleMania. Holly wound up losing the match from a backslide pin and would attempt to make a run for it. She temporarily got the upper hand but Victoria fought back and strapped Holly into the barber's chair. She then shaved Molly's head bald for the world to see.

6 Eugene Vs. Eric Bischoff

The stipulation was not announced at first but Eugene defeated his on-screen uncle Eric Bischoff at the inaugural Taboo Tuesday in 2004; the event where fans voted on stipulations and matchups. The three choices for this match involved the loser wearing a dress, the loser becoming the winner's servant, or the loser having his head shaved.

Although the favorite was the head shave, Jonathan Coachman tried to sway the vote in favor of Eric being the servant (for five minutes). Mr. McMahon made the save, putting Coach in the dress, and ensuring that Bischoff's head was shaved by Eugene. The full-cut was not done but enough to show Eric's grey roots to McMahon's humor.

5 Bobby Lashley Vs. Umaga

An asterisk can go beside this match as neither combatant's hair was at risk, although one had none. The memorable Battle of the Billionaires contest at WrestleMania 23 in 2007 involving Mr. McMahon and Donald Trump where each representative chose a superstar to wrestle on behalf of their hair. McMahon went with Umaga and Trump went with the bald-headed Bobby Lashley.

Guest referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin played his part to make sure the match went down fair-and-square and that the losing billionaire, Mr. McMahon, owned up to his debt after Bobby won following a Spear. Lashley, Austin, and Trump all took part in McMahon being shaved bald in front of the massive crowd and millions at home.

4 Bobby Lashley Vs. Shane McMahon

One of the top moments from WrestleMania 23 in April 2007 was Vince McMahon getting his head shaved bald after losing the Battle of The Billionaires match. As the saying goes, especially when it's sought by a vengeful Mr. McMahon, payback is a b****. Although Vince himself was not at the forefront of the attack, his son Shane attempted to get the job done.

In the process of challenging for Lashley's ECW World Championship, Shane wagered his hair in a match on the April 9, 2007, episode of Raw. Shane intentionally got himself disqualified, thus losing the Hair vs. Title match. Umaga and Mr. McMahon then came down to the ring and brutalized Bobby, leaving him bloodied to end the show. Though Shane lost, he never had his head shaved but may have received a small trim on his own terms to somewhat make-good on the stipulation.

3 CM Punk Vs. Rey Mysterio (x2)

CM Punk made a strong effort to recruit Rey Mysterio into his Straight Edge Society in 2010. The two battled at WrestleMania 26 with the stipulation that had Rey lost he would join the SES; Rey would get the win. A rematch occurred the following month at Extreme Rules with Punk's hair on the line in the match; Punk would win.

The boiling point came at Over The Limit in May in a Straight Edge Society Pledge vs Hair match. Although Punk won the first match with his hair at stake, he lost the final battle. Although the SES tried to save Punk, Kane evened the odds and allowed Mysterio to handcuff Punk to the ropes before shaving off the SES leader's hair.

2 El Torito Vs. Hornswoggle

El Torito and Hornswoggle stole the show at Extreme Rules 2014 in their pre-show WeeLC match. Not containing as much excitement, their rematch the following month in June at Payback had higher stakes with 'Swoggle wagering his hair against Tortio's mask. Like their first bout, this meeting also took place on the pre-show.

Like in their last encounter, El Torito picked up the win by pinfall. Hornswoggle accepted his fate and got in the barber's chair and was given a rough and uncomfortable-looking haircut with scissors and disposable razors.

1 Enzo Amore Vs. Sylvester Lefort

Three years before stirring up an entertainment storm on 205 Live, Enzo Amore was a work in progress on NXT. He along with Colin Cassady developed a feud in 2014 with Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Louis. The latter got the upper hand at one point, attacking Enzo and Cass before shaving off Enzo's beard.

A challenge was made for NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way that September, pitting Amore against Lefort in a Hair vs. Hair match. Enzo got the win with a roll-up pin and, to build on the trend, Sylvester ran off to avoid his debt. His partner Marcus however was not so lucky and would serve the punishment instead, losing his hair and eyebrows.
